2 – Calvin Klein expands in Asia
Calvin Klein Collection plans to open four new stores in Asia in 2014.
Earlier this month, it opened in Singapore, followed by another one in Hong Kong. The remaining two are planned for Malaysia and Thailand in the coming months. >>
3 – SM Prime plans expansion
Filipino property developer SM Prime is earmarking 400 billion pesos ($9 billion) to support its five-year expansion plan. SM plans to increase its properties including shopping malls two-fold during the period.
It is expecting revenues and net income to double during the same timeframe. The expansion plan includes expanding its shopping mall count to 85 from the current 53. By 2018, SM Prime plans to have 74 shopping malls in the Philippines and 11 in China. >>
4 – KFC boosts Thai business
Korean tech giant Samsung plans to open between 3000 and 4000 new stores in India’s smaller cities to boost sales. Samsung already plans to open 1000 stores in fourth and fifth tier cities this year. >>
5 – Pringle debuts first China store in Chengdu
Pringle of Scotland will make its debut in Mainland China this month with a new store in Chengdu. The company is owned by the Hong-Kong-based Fang family and currently maintains several locations in the city. Pringle clothes incorporate such diverse and contemporary elements as knitwear designs, muted sequins, and 3-D printing, using texture and shaping to balance the traditional with the modern. >>
